Student Loans
Student loans can be facilitated by the U.S. Department of Education or by private institutions. These loans, accessible to students or their parents, are a borrowed sum that must be repaid with interest.
Federal loans come with publicly disclosed terms set by the government. Private loans, however, are not federally insured and may have fluctuating approval prerequisites and their own set of terms. It’s crucial to compare these aspects when considering your financial aid options.
Federal Loans
The U.S. Department of Education offers federal loans to eligible students or their parents to help cover their educational costs.
Private Loans
As a rule, private loan borrowers must be U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents with sound creditworthiness. International students can also apply, provided they have a creditworthy U.S. co-signer and the required U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service documentation.
For students with no credit or poor credit history, applying with a creditworthy co-borrower may open up the possibility of securing a loan. Please note that most lenders require a qualified co-borrower before approving the loan.
Remember that interest rates and repayment terms can vary among private lenders. While Eagle Gate College doesn’t recommend specific private lenders, students are free to borrow from any lender. Before choosing, we encourage you to research and review all lender terms and conditions thoroughly.
Finally, verify with your chosen lender if Eagle Gate College is recognized as an eligible institution. If approved, we are happy to certify your loan with your lender.

Scholarships
Scholarships, like grants, provide financial aid that doesn’t require repayment. They may be allocated based on various factors, such as academic achievement, talent in extracurricular activities, financial necessity, or alumni standing.
To support your academic journey and help you achieve your career goals, Eagle Gate College offers an array of institutional scholarships and grants to students who fulfill the qualifying conditions. Students are also encouraged to apply for outside scholarships to help finance their education.
Institutional Scholarships
- College Merit Scholarship: The Merit Scholarship is offered in the amount of $500 and is available to three-quarter-time and full-time students who have demonstrated merit and financial need. First-year students may apply upon successful completion of two terms. The scholarship award will be paid in the second academic year and will be scheduled in even amounts per term. Recipients may qualify for a Merit Scholarship for a total of two academic years, with the minimum or maximum amount extended for each academic year award.
- Practical Nursing Alumni Scholarship—PN to BSN: This scholarship is available to graduates of Eagle Gate College’s Practical Nursing program who enroll in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. Our scholarship is awarded based on financial need and cannot be used in tandem with any tuition reduction programs. The maximum amount available is $5,000, and it will be paid out at the beginning of each semester. In addition, there are block transfer options from PN to BSN that can help get started towards becoming an RN even faster.
Institutional Grants
- Yellow Ribbon Institutional Grant (Utah campuses only): The Yellow Ribbon Institutional Grant is offered in the amount of $1,500 per the Veteran’s Administration (VA) academic year (August 1 to July 31). It is available at the Utah campuses exclusively to students approved for federal assistance by the Department of Veterans Affairs under Chapter 33. The Veteran’s Administration will match the same amount as the institutional grant and remit payment directly to our college. The award is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. It is limited to three awards per campus per VA academic year.
- Military Grant: The Military Grant program is available exclusively to qualifying service members and their immediate family members. Individual disbursements will be scheduled in even amounts throughout the length of the program and will be applied to tuition, books, and fees. For the purposes of this grant, financial need is calculated by subtracting the total direct institutional costs from all other available aid.

Federal Work-Study
Our Federal Work-Study (FWS) program may help you earn additional financial aid to cover your educational expenses. FWS participants can secure paid positions at the college or with non-profit agencies or for-profit businesses, earning at least the current minimum hourly wage.
Although certain restrictions apply, Eagle Gate is committed to assisting eligible students in job placement. An advantage of the FWS program is that your earnings won’t count towards the following year’s expected family contribution.
Funds are limited and dispensed annually on July 1st, with awards provided on a first-come, first-served basis. The awards may range from $200 to $4500 per academic year.
To be considered for the FWS program, students must complete a FAFSA application, exhibit financial need, and express interest in part-time work. Please consult your financial aid representative if you are interested in the program. Your resume and employment application will be required for consideration, subject to fund availability and your eligibility.
